Weekly Review

This week the song choice is Garth Brooks "Ain't Going Down (Till The Sun Comes Up)" - which seems appropriate since it seems like Grant is always on the go. Even at 7:30 pm he still has energy most days and then just like an alarm clock he is awake most days by 5:50 am. Lucky for us he plays in his crib for 20-30 minutes each morning so we don't really have to get up until around 6:15 am.

Grant has really taken off this week and he is walking almost everywhere in the house. Which makes Buster and Bugsy uneasy all the time. Grant really likes to chase them.

Early in the week I was talking to my friend about getting child-proof locks for the toilet. I told her I didn't think I would get them since we are really good about closing the bathroom door. Well I guess I will need to get some locks as we are not as good as I thought. One day Grant was playing with his truck and headed off to his play room.....but along the way he discovered that the bathroom door was open. I heard him playing but though he was in his play room.....nope he was dunking his truck in the toilet and splashing water all over the floor (and his shirt and pants). Good thing I had just cleaned that toilet!

Functional vs Non-Functional....

We had some family photos taken this weekend and I thought I would get my nails done for the photos. I've always wanted to get my nails professionally done...but never have (not even for our wedding). I will say they are really pretty....but non-functional. I don't know how people manage everyday tasks with these things on.

Non-Functional....

But this weekend I was not the only one to get my nails done....Buster also got his nails done. Yep Buster! After almost 4 months of scratching our hardwood floors I finally thought to google "dog scratching hardwood floors" and wouldn't you know someone invented something to solve the problem. Soft Paws so I ordered Buster a set. They came in today and I'm so excited!! He doesn't' seem to mind them - which is great! We will see if they stay on overnight - or for the 6-8 weeks they are suppose to last. If they work....watch out because they come in holiday colors!! Oh how Buster (and maybe Bugsy) will be so stylish!! So these nails get the functional award!

Functional.....

Weekly video

This week was pretty slow (not much new happening)...until today. Grant decided today was the day he would walk almost anywhere his little heart desired. It is pretty funny to watch. He gets so excited and screams sometimes when he gets to his destination.

Also there are more photos of Grant in his Florida Gator Halloween outfit.

Halloween Party

Several weeks ago I had a poll to see what Grant should be for Halloween....well with most poll/elections....there were problems. Apparently someone found out how to vote more than once and thus the results were invalid. I'm not naming names (Dad) but I think the voting officials in Washington need to be notified for the upcoming election.

Here is Grant in his Halloween outfit (more to come tomorrow). I may send these photos to the University of Florida Football Coach....I hear colleges are recruiting kids younger and younger these day. Just to clarify....Florida is not recruiting young kids....only schools like Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia are....ha ha just kidding!

Weekly review

About a week and half ago Grant had his 12 month doctor appointment. Our doctor reminded us that we really need to "child proof" our house. As you will see we have a few adjustments to make. I was not aware that Grant could climb already.....but in order to get the best view out of the office window he had to climb.

This past week Grant has really been playing with many of his new birthday toys. But he still loves his old toys - like his ball and truck. Not to mention the walker - I'm not sure when he will stop using it. I said to Nate the other day - life is a circle. You are born and wear diapers and use a walker and then you get old and wear diapers and use a walker.

Also this past week Grant has had a little bowel problem/diaper rash issue (probably more info than you wanted to know...) and our doctor advised us not to use baby wipes for a week.....so what do you use then was my thought. Oh how I am thankful for disposable diapers & wipes!! Only 3 more days of washrags....yay!!

Concert

A few weeks ago I had the chance to go to a Rascal Flatts/Taylor Swift concert when they came into town. It was great! My friend - Billie Jean and I had a good time. Here are some pictures.

Conference

Normally I'm not one to post many church related items but this past weekend we had the opportunity to watch General Conference (which happens twice a year) where the General Authorities speak. I will admit that most of the time I end up falling asleep at some point...but I did really good this year.

After watching conference I have decieded that our family motto will be "Finding Joy In The Journey". This was one of the talks and it was great! Life goes by so fast that sometimes we forget to find joy in the little things. People always tell me I'm going to miss this or that when the time has pasted. Some of the time I believe but other times...I'm just not so sure. For example - people tell me I'm going to miss Grant getting up at 6 am when he is 16 and refuses to get out of bed by 9 or 10 am. I would be willing to give the 9 or 10 thing a try for a week or so to see if I really do miss the 6 am wake up call.

But overall I do think it is true that we need to find joy in the journey. Because the time does past so quickly. I can't believe our wonderful dog Buster is almost 8 years old and Bugsy - our forever puppy - is almost 6 years old. Or that Grant just turned 1. It just seemed like yesterday that Buster was our only dog, I was holding Bugsy at 3 days old and Grant was 8 lbs.

Hard work....

A week ago or so Nate spend many LONG hours/days staining the deck. Here is the end result:

GREAT JOB!!

Oh the adventures of a one year old...

O'k so they are not really that different from the adventures of an 11 month old. This past week we went to the tot gym and played with all the toys. We met Caleb and his mom there. Then on Friday we went to safety town - a place where kids can learn the rules of the road on their bikes. I thought playgroup was meeting at safety town this past week....but I was wrong. So Grant and I had the whole bike course to ourselves. Since Grant doesn't ride a bike we took his walker. The walker has become his new favorite toy - I think it or something with wheels is in almost every photo. Then Caleb came over to our house Friday night. It was fun to see Grant and Caleb play.

Not so easy

So as you know Grant loves to take his pants off during his nap....this time he must have been really tired and could only get the pants halfway. Or maybe these sweatpants are not so easy to pull down.
