Weekly video

Here is our weekly video.

No shots of the the new pool yet. It was nice this week but still a little too cold to go swimming in the zebra pool.

As always lots of playing with Baxter. Plus I think Bugsy even made the video.

Grant figured out how to stand on the arm of the couch this week. Yep it was funny to watch the first time he did it....but now it will get him in timeout as it is too dangerous.

Have a great week.

Who is behind door #1?

GRANT!

I tried to put Grant down for his nap this afternoon and he protested. He kept coming to the door and opening his door to look out...so this afternoon the door handle will be switched so I can lock the door from the outside. Well after awhile the noise died down and when I went to check on him here is what I found.

He had fallen asleep right behind his door. I guess the floor today was better than the new bed.

Where do YOU sleep?

For the first two weeks Grant slept in his hospital bed.

Then for his first night at home he slept in a bassinet (but didn't like it).

Then for the next six month he slept in his car seat (snapped in a swing which would rock him all night...who wouldn't like that?) Always wrapped in a swaddling blanket.

Sometimes he would sleep during naps on his boppy.
Other times he would nap in his bouncy chair.

Occassionally the floor seemed like a nice place to nap (with Bugsy).

Still other times it was fun to nap with mom and dad.

Finally after six months of sleeping in the car seat Grant started sleeping in his crib.

Sometimes it was still fun to nap on the floor (or in this case on the dog bed).

And after a long day Grant would fall asleep in his car seat.

So here we are twenty months later and where does Grant sleep?
In his new toddler bed.

Yesterday I found a jogging stroller on Craigslist and went to pick it up. The lady also had a toddler bed in her garage that said "for sale". We had originally planned to move Grant from his crib directly to a twin bed but for $20 I couldn't pass up the toddler bed. So instead of a big leap we took the small step last night and moved Grant to his new toddler bed. At first he cried for 5 minutes after I shut the door but then he started talking to himself and within 10 minutes he was a sleep. Notice the music box which also moved for the crib to the bed....he loves that thing. I heard him turn it on twice last night. He slept great on his new bed - no getting up in the middle of the night and better yet he didn't fall out of bed once. Hopefully tonight (the second night) will be just as good!

Weekly video

Lots of fun this past week...mainly just hanging out around the house. It was so warm last week that I got out the small pool - which recently has been used as the ball pit. It lasted all of one day....then Baxter ripped a hole in it. Oh well good thing it was only $5 last year. I think we got our five dollars out of it. So on to a bigger and better pool....you will have to wait until next week to see photos (that is if it stops raining).

Brown Bear Blanket

Until recently Grant had not been one of those kids who is attached to a blanket or any object for that matter. The other night Grant was having a hard time sleeping and as I picked him up out of his crib at 1:00 am he started crying more....and reaching for his little blue blanket. He had to have it as we rocked. Never has that happened before....and hasn't happened since then either. But it got me thinking about some fabric I purchased for him back in March when we were visiting family. I found another piece for the backing a few weeks ago and so here is Grant's new favorite blanket.

Award Winner

Yep it is true we have an award winning dog at our house. Nate has been taking Baxter to obedience school for 5 weeks now and he (Baxter) just won the gold medal for the fastest time through the obstacle course.

Here he is wearing his new medal:

Babies Babies & More Babies

Last night I made a list of everyone I know having a baby (or who recently had one) and there were 12 people on the list.

Which made me think of the little nest I spotted the other day under our deck. So here is our baby news.....

The dad - out looking for food.
The mom - out looking for food too.

The hungry babies under our deck

Art

On Sunday I picked up Grant from nursery at church and the nursery teacher gave me this picture that Grant had colored. I was so excited! Normally Grant doesn't want to color or he tries to eat the crayons. So imagine my delight when I saw that he had colored this picture...and used blue & orange crayons....already he is a Gator fan.

As we were leaving I said to Nate "Check out the picture Grant colored" to which he replied "He is not very good at coloring in the lines but on a positive note he can write his name really well". Ha ha. Too bad it was the nursery leader who wrote his name....

Now we have artwork for the front of our frig.

Variety IS The Spice Of Life.....

Last week I added a little variety to Grant's breakfast. He has been eating the same thing for breakfast (oatmeal) for many many months now....almost every morning. Not the quick instant packet kind....nope it has to be old fashion oatmeal.

Here is the basic version:
1 Cup of water
1/2 Cup of old fashion oatmeal
Boil in microwave for 3 minutes
Add 2 Teaspoons brown sugar
Cool in freezer (it is much faster than just waiting)

With Bananas (which is his favorite)

With Whole Milk

With Diced Pears

With Diced Peaches

With Diced Strawberries
Surprisingly he eat the entire bowl of oatmeal every morning. What can I say - he loves his oatmeal.

Weekly Video

Again another late video....but hey Sunday was Mother's Day so that day doesn't count against me...and yesterday I posted a video....so actually I'm right on time. :-)

Last week was filled with tons of fun. We went to a play area near the mall with dad, went to the park with dad, got a new lawn mower (which blows bubbles - but not yet - only when used outside), got a new basketball hoop, and spent many hours playing with Baxter on the deck.

Have a great week.

Touch A Truck Day

This past week we went to an event called "Touch A Truck". They had all kinds of vehicles there....police motorcycle, buses, tractors, fire truck, garbage truck (lucky for us it was brand new...never used yet) and many more! The kids got to sit in the vehicles and push all the buttons and horns. It was fun. Grant liked some of the vehicles but mainly he just wanted to run around in the grass. Here is that video.

Sunshine!

Finally some sunshine...which means Baxter can spend some time outside on the deck. Hopefully soon we will have a fence and then he can spend some time in the yard during the day. Bugsy will only spend time outside on the deck if it is over 70 degrees....he is such a "Florida" dog.

I can't believe how big he is getting...it seems like we just got him yesterday!

Weekly Video

Finally I finished the weekly video...only two days late.

Last week we had tons of fun at the park with Caleb and his mom. We also had fun making music at the house with Grant's new recorder. Also as mentioned before lot of fun with suckers!

Suckers

No new video yet - maybe tomorrow I'll get that finished.

Here is one of our new traditions - nightly sucker. Grant doesn't eat too many sweets during the day so I let him have a Dum Dum sucker right before his nightly bath. It has been funny to see his reaction to the different flavors. Strawberry is his favorite.

Date Night With The New Baby

The past two Fridays we have had date night....with Baxter at dog obedience school. He is doing great! In just a couple weeks he knows how to sit on command and heel when walking. He is a very smart dog!
